United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO)

As the leading body holding the responsibility of coordinating and driving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, the United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) plays a crucial role as the global secretariat for the UN Sustainable Development Group. This year, the UNDCO committee will focus on global and rising trends that impact the daily functions of states and individuals, including reevaluating the very SDGs that shape the movement of the United Nations and the prominent issue of global population trends and impacts. This committee will be tasked with evaluating and creating continuing standards and goals of the United Nations while detailing an imminent issue of population trends, working with a variety of nations and viewpoints to ultimately come to a cohesive and realistic solution and implementations.

Topic one: Reevaluating Sustainable Development Goals

  • Delegates will discuss existing SDGs, discuss their relevance and significance, and decide how to improve on existing goals or implement new ones.

  • Delegates will also balance the possibility of removing SDGs, creating new SDGs, or compiling SDGs for efficiency while balancing various perspectives and statewide goals.

topic two:

  • Delegates will navigate how to address the population collapse at a global level with recent trends towards nationalism and if this is something to promote or discourage

  • They must evaluate if the UN's development activities in a given country are aligned with the country's own development priorities and how to tailor the current Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and coordinate the UN’s resources

  • They might create guidelines for regional offices to implement these resources to address the population collapse
