For All Anime Fans: MAPPA Board of Directors
Topic one: Working Rights for MAPPA Employees
The animation business in Japan is booming, having now exploded to more than 25 billion dollars. With this growth, the work required from animation studios has only risen. More and more work has been piled on employees, and stories about poor working conditions and high workplace pressure have leaked to the public. While MAPPA is not the largest animation studio in Japan by a long shot, it has found itself at the center of controversy. The executive board will decide how to handle the rising discontent and the heightened backlash from fans abroad and locally.
topic two: Opening a MAPPA Theme Park
As the global popularity of anime increases, there seems to be a market for a MAPPA theme park. There may be backlash, but people still love what’s being made. The successes of Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and other works have brought new waves of fans in Japan and abroad. It is not unheard of for Japanese animation studios to have their own theme parks - notably Studio Ghibli opened one in 2022 to great success. Shareholders seem to feel that this could be a great new source of revenue. Board members will be deliberating on rides, attractions, and advertising for the park.
