Topic 1: Extensive Restrictions on Freedom of Speech for Journalists

In today’s society, information is often detrimental to the stability of government and balance of power in a country. Those in power are increasingly attempting to control the spread of mass information to better their own image, carrying out their goal in three ways: through false propaganda, intimidation, and violence.  How do we protect our right to free speech and prioritize the truth when we fear for our lives?

Topic 2: Journalists Versus Social Media and Internet Giants

Although social media offers a platform for efficient news dissemination, it poses a threat to journalists everywhere. Social media actually promotes political polarization, spreads negative messages, and produces no original content. Media company consolidation now poses a huge threat to journalists.
